The Old Vicarage was Enjoy England Gold Awardbuilt around 1850 and was the vicarage for St. John’s-in-the-vale church until 1999. The lakeland stone house sits in good sized grounds, with superb uninterrupted views to the nearby fells of St. John’s-in-the-vale and Helvellyn.

It is in an ideal location to explore the Lake District National Park, being close to both Keswick and less than 10 miles to Grasmere. Penrith railway station is less than 12 miles and there is a regular bus service passing the house. Excellent walks can be had from the house to High and Low Rigg or Castlerigg Stone Circle, as well as the more demanding Helvellyn and Blencathra and the surrounding fells. There is no need to take the car. Borrowdale is a short drive. Both Derwent Water and Thirlmere Lake are within 3 miles.

Particularly suited to family groups the Old Vicarage will sleep 12. It is a very comfortable, spacious and well equipped holiday house. The house has oil fired central heating throughout but with open coal or wood burning fires in three downstairs rooms. It is also double glazed. There are 5 bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, kitchens, dining room, 2 lounges, games room, down stairs toilet and shower room, payphone and broadband.
